About this project

A homeowner in Dublin, CA had a beautiful Mirador pergola on their brick patio, but there was one problem: it was never actually anchored to the ground. The legs were just standing on the bricks. A pergola like that can shift, or even lift in a strong Bay Area wind, so it needed to be fixed properly. Here's what we did. We carefully cut out a square in the brick under each leg, dug a hole, and poured a concrete footing. Then we bolted each leg to its footing with anchors, so the pergola is now fixed to the ground and not just resting on the patio. The dirt went straight into a contractor bag instead of being piled up on the patio. The client had one big request: keep it clean. Someone had done similar work there before and left dried concrete all over the bricks, and it still shows. We didn't want that to happen again. We laid protective sheeting under the mixing tub and around every work spot, and we washed off any splashes before the concrete could dry. When we left, the bricks looked just like they did when we arrived. Mirador is a high-end pergola, and it deserves a solid, tidy installation. If you have a pergola or gazebo in the Bay Area or Sacramento area that needs anchoring to a patio, pavers or concrete, send us a message and we'll give you a free estimate.
